BRATsLangkawi Day 3 & 4

Hi lovelies! Welcome back to my blog. This will be the last and final entry on my BRATsLangkawi adventure.

Day 3

For Day 3, we visited a mangrove site where we actually learnt about how mangrove trees really helps create a cleaner ecosystem for us and is also an essential to thousands of species. We interviewed Mr. David Bradley where he shares about his journey from Melbourne to Langkawi and his passion for cleaning up the ocean :)

BRATsLangkawi 2015 Day 1

For those unaware, I attended a young journalist programme organised by The Star from the 2nd to the 5th of December. I was chosen for the camp in June and really enjoyed myself there, thus making me to decide to go for the alumi camp.

For this camp, it was held in Langkawi at Berjaya Hotel. My friends (whom I met from the previous camp) and I decided to take the same flight there together.

We departed for the airport at around 6 in the morning and the skies were still dark.
Thanks mom and dad for ferrying me all the way there c:

By the time we got there it was around 7am and it was after dawn.

When I arrived at KLIA2 I met up with James and a couple of other BRATs and we boarded our flight together.

The mandatory outside-the-plane-sky shots

The hotel we stayed at had a really cool concept too. We stayed in chalets which are located all around the main lobby. The only way to get to our rooms are either by walking or the shuttle bus (which takes forever to arrive).

When we got there we took a tour around the hotel before the other participants arrived.
And I must say, the ambiance and scenery were indeed lovely.

We had workshops the whole day until we were finally paired up for an assignment where we learnt how to write a dummy story.

We ended our day pretty late that night. My roommate was hungry so she took some mash potato back to our room but she couldn't find a way to heat it up so she settled for hairdryers HAHA. It was so funny, literally the highlight of my day :')

That's just about it for Day 1! Will be blogging about Day 2 soon, so stay tuned ;)

FairMUN 2015

Last weekend I attended FairMUN. With this being my second MUN conference, I didn't really know what to expect as I was so blur during my first, I didn't enjoy it as much as I would have liked to. In other words, I had quite high expectations in terms of the quality of the debate as well as meeting new people. I'm not usually a really outgoing/sociable kind of person but I really wanted to come of my shell for once and being constantly stuck in such a small school, this was an opportunity I didn't want to waste.

Day 1

Typical snapchat selfie hehe

Day 2

Iran and Iraq became best friends too HAHA.
We even got nominated for OTP when voting for superlatives hehe.

We were also called for a press conference prior to that.
As you can tell from the candid picture, I am SO SO awkward.

*credits to fairmun for the lovely photos*

I would like to say a huge thank you to the chairs and rapporteur of my council, for conducting the debate so smoothly as well as ensuring that all delegates were feeling comfortable and doing good. And also for all the lame jokes that never fail to crack me up HAHA.

FairMUN was truly memorable. I got to meet a lot of lovely people. It just goes to show how there are still such kind people, though I don't often meet many outside of school.

Till my next MUN conference, xx

-

MAYBE NO ONE MENTIONED
THAT SEASONS OF DOUBT,
SUFFERING, AND DETACHMENT
ARE REGULAR VALLEYS IN A BELIEVER’S LIFE.
THOSE ARE ALSO THE EXACT TIMES
WE GO TO GOD AND TELL HIM EVERYTHING.
TO EVEN SAY, “I DON’T FEEL YOU RIGHT NOW, GOD.”
YOU CAN TELL HIM THAT.
MOST OF US THINK WE’VE FAILED GOD
WHEN WE DON’T FEEL HIM, WHEN IT’S ACTUALLY
THAT FEELING OF HIS ABSENCE THAT
CAN EITHER PUSH YOU TO HIM OR FROM HIM.
HE’D MUCH RATHER IT BE TO HIM.

Change.

16 days into a new year and so far things haven't been going very well.
You know those New Years Resolutions we make every year?
"Eat healthier." "Exercise more." "Study harder." etc.
Well, for me personally, none of them ever come through.
Maybe i expected too much out of this new year.
That's why my disappointments are much more higher too.
After all, I can't expect change to happen in just one day.
It takes time for transition.
I just need to keep telling myself that.

why do I always mess up? why do I always screw up relationships and make people hate me so much?
